Kenneth Goldfine (Ken)
Chairman of the Board / Chief Executive Officer kgoldfine@zmchotels.comA member of the team since 1979, Ken is responsible for the vision that is ZMC. He is instrumental in challenging the entire team to think outside the box, grow and develop as individuals, and lead by example. Ken provides leaders and leadership that continually represent growth and development and introduce new thinking and new ideas for approaching the same issues that the industry has faced for decades. Ken is the defined leader of our relationships with banks and lending institutions as well as our equity partners. A critical thinker by nature Ken leads from afar and allows each key member of the team the autonomy to operate and create success independently. Ken has been very involved in the development of tourism and hospitality in Scottsdale, AZ where he resides.
Todd Torvinen
President/CFO ttorvinen@zmchotels.comA member of the team since 2004, Todd brings a financial focus to ZMC that is critical to the health and development of the company. His ability to analyze data and provide ongoing assessment of critical operational costs and budgets is instrumental in creating a higher return on investment for ZMC. Todd is the team leader in developing relationships with owners of management contracts within the company and creates new business for ZMC with each new relationship. Todd provides leadership to the entire team and directs the budget process and completion as well as the daily, weekly and monthly tools which enable us to efficiently manage our financial operations. Todd has been a critical part of the community development and expansion of tourism in Duluth, MN where he and our home office reside.
William DeSanto (Bill)
Chief Operating Officer bdesanto@zmchotels.comA member of the team since 1982, Bill is responsible for the overall hotel operations and management of ZMC. He analyzes and selects acquisitions of properties and land which are instrumental in our strategic long term growth plan. Bill has performed a variety of roles in the company in many locations across the country and brings a wealth of knowledge and skill sets to his position. Bill has extensive knowledge in the area of new construction, renovation and demolition which enable us to increase our effectiveness and hands on role when taking on new projects. Bill is instrumental in a number of communities and franchises has served on many boards and associations related to the hospitality community, and tourism.
Jonathon Driscoll (Jon)
Vice President of Operations/Regional Supervisor jdriscoll@zmchotels.comA member of the team since 1980, Jon is the team leader for Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan responsible for 12 or more hotels at a time. Jon is known as “the operator” in the company and is well respected for his problem solving and operations skill sets. Jon has served as team leader in virtually every territory throughout his career with ZMC and is vital to the company due to his property knowledge of every hotel owned by ZMC, and every management contract hotel as well. Jon is well versed at vetting out problems and hiccups in operations that create inefficiencies and cost money and can recommend solutions and streamline operations. Jon has served the community and state in several roles within the hospitality industry and continues to contribute to the franchise community as well.
John Goldfine
Vice Chairman jgoldfine@zmchotels.comA member of the team since 1970, John is a leader in the tourism industry in a number of ways. He has served on a number of Boards in the region including Grandmas Marathon, Duluth Days, as well as serving as the Chair for the Duluth Convention and Visitors Bureau. John has received two distinguished honors from the University of Minnesota, Center for Economic Development. The Labovitz Lifetime Achievement Award, for having significant impact on the community and region for more than 25 years and the Labovitz Business Person of the Year Award in 2006 for his impact on Duluth’s tourism. He is an instrumental part of the ZMC marketing team where he participates as a consultant on campaigns and marketing initiatives on an ongoing basis.
Leanne Joynes
Vice President/Sales & Marketing ljoynes@zmchotels.comA member of the team since 1991, Leanne brings an incredible amount of energy and enthusiasm to her role in Marketing and Sales. A 30 year veteran of hospitality sales and marketing Leanne embraces change and has launched ZMC into new marketing strategies and ideas throughout her career with ZMC. ZMC is now using blended marketing strategies, social media and technology together with revenue management in the most effective way to generate more profit for each hotel. Leanne is responsible for Sales & Marketing Action plans, Marketing budgets and overall sales for our entire portfolio and assists in long term strategy for the future of ZMC. Leanne also has served as General Manager at several hotels as well managing construction projects and new development for ZMC. She is involved in the community in tourism related boards and events such as Visit Duluth, Bentleyville Tour of Lights, Duluth Heritage Center, March of Dimes, and Woodland Hills.
Jo Haubrich
Vice President of Construction jhaubrich@zmchotels.comA member of the team since 2006, Jo manages all construction and renovation projects. At any given time there are 10 or more projects in the design, build or renovation process, Jo is instrumental in working with franchises on property improvement plans and brand standards as well. Jo is well versed at dealing with contractors and subcontractors to complete projects in a timely manner. She has served as General Manager and Team Leader in the past for ZMC and knows how to manage multiple responsibilities effectively. Jo is also involved in her community and works specifically on senior and animal rights.
Amy Goldfine
Vice President/Director of Design agoldfine@zmchotels.comA member of the team since 1994, Amy is responsible for design of the properties that are ZMC. She creates the look and feel that customers appreciate. Drawing from her decades of experience in the home and hospitality design products industry, Amy has developed a system for new construction, remodeling projects and property improvement plans. Amy has implemented core modernization within the network of hotels and continues to be recognized and featured by design publications on a national level.
Kelly Dewey
Regional Supervisor – Arizona kdewey@zmchotels.comA member of the team since 2005, Kelly is a Regional Supervisor for ZMC Hotels, overseeing our entire Arizona portfolio. With hotels around the state Kelly must be knowledgeable in a variety of feeder markets that are all critical to success in Arizona. Kelly has skill sets in organization and operations that led to her new role for ZMC. Kelly is able to manage multiple teams at the same time and is very adept at training a variety of roles within the operation. Kelly is a valued mentor with the company and has been instrumental at developing standards and guidelines for ZMC and working directly with the field representatives with the franchises she oversees.
Jeannie Hetrick
Regional Supervisor – Kansas, Missouri, North Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Oklahoma jhetrick@zmchotels.comA member of the team since 2006, Jeanie is a Regional Supervisor for ZMC Hotels, overseeing more than 10 hotels. Jeanie is adept at developing personal relationships with her General Managers and providing extensive training to them in accounting, budgeting and staff leadership. Jeanie has developed skills as a business owner and entrepreneur that have enabled her to be not only knowledgeable but with a very human touch as well. She develops strong managers that can think and react on their feet and is considered among the best in the business at managing a team of managers. Jeanie has quickly obtained the brand standard knowledge to be effective in her vast territory with multiple franchises in multiple states.
JoAnn Mattson
Director of Human Resources & Risk Management jmattson@zmchotels.comA member of the team since 1997, JoAnn is responsible for the network of Human Resources that happens in every state we do business in across the nation. JoAnn administrates new policy, deals with every employee issue, administrates company benefits, and handles unemployment claims and workers’ compensation. JoAnn has personal relationships with all of our General Managers and anyone else at the property level needing guidance in the Human Resource area. In addition JoAnn manages all guest and property insurance matters for ZMC and coordinates issues with our insurance providers and legal counsel. JoAnn is active within the community personally and professionally.
Ellen Goldfine Troeltzsch
Director of Reputation Management/Project Specialist etroeltzsch@zmchotels.comA member of the team since 1984, Ellen is known as the “go to gal” within the leadership of ZMC Hotels. Ellen has vast knowledge of accounting, feasibility studies, social reputation management and leads the team during the budget process. Ellen has managed hotels, and virtually every special project that ZMC has taken on since joining the team. She is well versed in corporate training, accounting and budgeting, and analysis of current assets or new development.
Marie Ronning
Director of Revenue Management mronning@zmchotels.comA member of the team since 1976, Marie manages a high level revenue team that meets with every property one or more times per week and identifies opportunities for increasing revenue. Her Revenue team monitors and manages all pricing and availability on all hotel distribution channels. Marie is adept at executing inventory controls, identifying market trends and forecasting revenue generators. Training is a key factor with team and managers changes, Marie leads the training and development of all General Managers to becoming astute revenue managers and creating revenue opportunities and options for marketing with inventory. Marie is fluent and proficient in all franchise systems, a vast array of property management systems and has developed relationships with key revenue managers in franchise operations at the national level. Marie is an active member of the Hotel Electronic Distribution Network Association.
Julie Kowalczak
Director of Purchasing jkowalczak@zmchotels.comA member of the team since 1984, Julie is responsible for the purchase of more than 7 million dollars of goods per year. Julie is responsible for the development of a companywide system for planning standard operational purchases on a weekly and monthly basis. In addition to the daily purchasing Julie is instrumental in purchasing for new development, remodeling and renovation projects. Julie has developed a tracking system with timelines for delivery which ensures that projects will be complete on time by providing goods to contractors when they need them on an ever changing schedule. Julie is also continually meeting with and researching new vendors for products as well as new products for purchase. She is also an active member of the National Association of Purchasing Managers – Lake Superior, Inc.
Brady O’Rourke
Director of Technology Marketing & IT Integration borourke@zmchotels.comA member of the team since 2010, Brady has been instrumental in the development of our online marketing efforts and social media presence for ZMC hotels. The company is now active on social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Yelp, and many more. Brady continually increases our knowledge and usage of technology in the Sales and Marketing world. Brady has created new websites, quality and relevant analytics to help us assess our current and future revenue streams in the social media and internet marketing environment. Brady continues to push the company in new directions with new outcomes and is a leader in the industry. Initially seen in the consultant role Brady now devotes the majority of his time to ZMC and its’ properties.
