ZMC Hotels acquires six branded properties and adds two states to Southeast portfolio

ZMC Hotels is pleased to announce the acquisition of six branded Marriott and Hilton hotel properties totaling 578 guest rooms to the ZMC Hotels’ management portfolio, on behalf of company-sponsored investment entities. Formerly part of the Buford, Georgia-based Ascent Hospitality, the hotels are located in Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia, adding two new states and five new flags to the ZMC Hotels portfolio. Each hotel occupies a prime location with important tourist and business destinations nearby.

In Tupelo, Mississippi, the birthplace of Elvis Presley, ZMC Hotels has added a 93-room Courtyard by Marriott and an 87-room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott. In Oxford, Alabama, ZMC Hotels has added an 81-room Home2 Suites by Hilton, and a 124-room Hilton Garden Inn, adjacent to the world-famous Talladega Speedway. And in Georgia, ZMC Hotels has added an 80-room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in the historic city of Savannah, as well as a 113-room Springhill Suites by Marriott in Statesboro, the home of Georgia Southern University.

Already well-positioned in the South with hotels in North Carolina, Alabama, and Florida, these additional six hotels expand ZMC Hotels’ presence in the Southeast, creating a strong regional presence to match that in the Upper Midwest and the Southwestern United States. The addition adds 220 employees to the ZMC Hotels’ family and brings the total portfolio to 40 hotels and more than 4,000 rooms across 13 states.

“The addition of these six hotels not only provides additional scale to our critical Southeast region but adds Springhill Suites, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Courtyard by Marriott, Hilton Garden Inn and Home2 Suites to our collection of brands under management,” said John Henry, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer. “We’re thrilled to be welcoming these six new GMs and their employees to our rapidly growing ZMC Hotels family.”

ZMC Hotels to begin construction on Tru by Hilton hotel in Sebring, Florida

Hall Equities Group and ZMC Hotels plan to begin construction on a Tru by Hilton, the newest mid-scale hotel concept by Hilton, in November 2017. ZMC’s Tru by Hilton will be situated in a prime location in Sebring, Florida, overlooking both Lake Jackson and Little Lake Jackson, and directly adjacent to the existing Residence Inn by Marriott, also owned and operated by ZMC Hotels.

Bevis Construction of Lake Placid, FL, has been awarded the construction contract for the four-story, 82-room hotel which is projected to open in December 2018.

Tru by Hilton is the revolutionary new hotel brand that has been shaking up the mid-priced market since Hilton introduced the brand in early 2016. Designed for guests with “a zest for life and a desire for human connection,” Tru by Hilton offers a fun, fresh, design-forward aesthetic with an emphasis on functionality, convenience, and connectivity.

The hotel is designed with expansive, high-tech lobbies zoned for working, socializing, playing, and eating. Lobbies include comfortable seating and sound-absorbing work pods, free wi-fi and charging stations, as well as a “play” area with a large screen TV and a shuffle board table. Guests are welcome to complimentary tea and coffee and have access to a 24/7 market offering premium national and local snacks and beverages, including single-serving beer and wine available 24 hours a day in the “Eat & Sip.”

Tru by Hilton even offers a reinvented breakfast experience with a build-your-own complimentary “Top It” breakfast bar that has sweet and savory toppings so guests can create their own healthy or indulgent morning masterpieces. After breakfast guests can visit the fitness center that leverages the latest fitness trends through barre, TRX bands, free weights, cardio, and flexibility gear.

ZMC Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer John Henry said, “We are excited to develop our first Tru by Hilton hotel. We believe it is a game-changer in the midscale category, offering quality contemporary lodging to travelers who believe that being cost conscious and having a great stay don’t have to be mutually exclusive.”

Hampton Inn Phoenix/Scottsdale at Shea Reopens as New Resort-Style Hampton Inn & Suites following Yearlong Upgrade and Reconstruction

ZMC Hotels is pleased to announce the reopening of the Hampton Inn at Shea Boulevard and North Scottsdale Road on October 13. The hotel underwent a yearlong closure and a massive, multimillion-dollar ground-up renovation and upgrade project that transformed it into a larger, resort-style Hampton Inn & Suites. The hotel now features a spectacular, oasis-style pool area and glass-walled lobby, far beyond typical brand standards.

Originally consisting of two stories with 130 standard guest rooms, the newly rebranded Hampton Inn & Suites Phoenix/Scottsdale on Shea Boulevard has been enlarged and reconfigured, and now comprises three stories and a total of 150 new guest rooms, including 48 new suites and two new grand suites with expansive balconies. In the course of the renovation, one end of the original building was demolished, two new wings were added, and a third story was added to the remaining portion of the original building. The pool area was completely redone and the porte-cochere was relocated to a more a central position. As a result, every aspect of the hotel is newly constructed and designed for guest comfort and convenience.

“This is the most significant renovation ZMC has ever gone through and would be the most significant renovation most hotel ownership groups have ever gone through, as well,” said Senior Project Manager, Byron Chapman.

Highlights of the new hotel include an impressive two-story lobby and breakfast room overlooking an exquisitely landscaped pool and patio area, which features inviting seating areas with fire pits, mature palms and colorful bougainvillea-draped trellises. The hotel also reopened with a new, larger fitness center and improved meeting facilities with updated technology. Fixtures and finishes in the guest rooms and public areas reflect the freshness of the Forever Young design initiative and are the most upscale and up-to-date available in the Hampton Inn line. Guest connectivity and convenience are paramount, with charging outlets thoughtfully provided throughout the guest rooms and lobby, and amenities like digital check-in and free Wi-Fi.

“The moment they arrive at the new Hampton Inn & Suites Phoenix/Scottsdale on Shea Boulevard, guests know that they are truly someplace special,” said hotel General Manager, Damian Humphreys. “The entire property has been beautifully landscaped and the attention to detail both inside and out has been incredible.”

“We have an unbeatable location and we’re well-known for the service we provide, so our closure over the past year has left a big gap in hospitality service for the area, particularly for Hilton Rewards members. It’s exciting to see the enthusiasm expressed by local businesses and previous guests over our reopening,” said Humphreys.

Centrally located at 10101 North Scottsdale Road, the hotel offers easy access to the restaurants and nightlife in historic Old Town Scottsdale to the south and to the high-end shopping and dining in North Scottsdale, as well as to the Scottsdale Airpark and nearby MLB Spring Training Facilities, making it an ideal choice for both leisure and business travelers.

The comprehensive make-over will touch nearly every aspect of the 3.76-acre property in Lake Havasu City, AZ, and dramatically increase aesthetics and amenities both inside and out, making the hotel a premier destination for travelers, conventions, weddings, and other corporate and social events. The hotel will remain open throughout the construction period, which is expected to be completed in six months, to be ready for the arrival of high season guests in early 2018.

Guest rooms and guest baths will also be fully updated and eleven new guest rooms will be added.

“We are extremely excited about the upcoming renovation,” says long-time hotel General Manager and Lake Havasu resident, Diane Harry. “There is simply nothing in the area that will be able to match our capabilities for special gatherings and events, and I believe it will attract new visitors to the area for business and for pleasure.”
